The US orders over 500,000 legal immigrants to leave.

Over 500,000 immigrants have had their legal status removed and must leave the US within weeks. The move supports President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement, notably from Latin America.

About 532,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans entered the U.S. in a transitory program begun by former President Joe Biden in October 2022 and extended in early 2023.

Without a formal exception, impacted parties must leave by April 24. DHS says the measure was always transitory.

The agency stressed that humanitarian parole does not provide citizenship or permanent status. Welcome.US, an immigrant assistance organization, advised anybody impacted by the order to seek legal advice immediately.
