The new $300 RX 9060 XT from AMD is superior to the Nvidia GPU in terms of both price and power.
AMD is pleased to announce the official launch of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, a new graphics card designed to compete in the highly competitive mid-range system market. It is priced lower than Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti range, making it a direct competitor in the sub-$400 market sector. The graphics processing unit (GPU) is offered in two different configurations, with 8GB and 16GB of GDDR6 memory respectively.
Architecture as well as Performance both
A total of 64 artificial intelligence accelerators, 32 compute units, and 32 ray accelerators are included in the Radeon RX 9060 XT, which is built on AMD’s most recent RDNA 4 architecture. A gaming frequency of 2,530 MHz and a boost clock of up to 3,130 MHz are both components that are included in this card. It is capable of delivering 25.6 teraflops of peak single-precision computation power, which is a strong performance indicator.
Additionally, the graphics processing unit (GPU) is intended to serve artificial intelligence tasks with up to 410 TOPS of INT8 and 821 TOPS of INT4 computation, which expands its value beyond the realm of typical gaming applications.
Efficiency and Memory Capacity
A 128-bit bus that is capable of up to 320 GB/s memory bandwidth is used to link the 8GB and 16GB GDDR6 memory versions of the RX 9060 XT. Both of these memory types are available for purchase. To improve the speed at which data may be accessed, each edition comes with 32 megabytes of Infinity Cache.
When compared to more expensive versions, the power consumption is rather low. The Total Board Power (TBP) of the 8GB type is one hundred fifty watts, while the 16GB option is rated at one hundred sixty watts. The power for both variants comes from a conventional 8-pin socket, and they are fully compatible with PCI Express 5.0 x16.
Connectivity and software technology
Complete support for FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 4 is included into AMD’s most recent graphics processing unit (GPU), which is enabled in part by FP8 acceleration for improved upscaling performance. Users also benefit from upgraded connection, which includes support for H.265 and AV1 video codecs, as well as DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b. Additional features include encode and decode capabilities.
Aspects of Availability and Cost
There will be no reference version of the RX 9060 XT that is released by AMD. Acer, ASUS, ASRock, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, Vastarmor, XFX, and Yeston are among of the board partners that will, instead, be responsible for the distribution of the graphics processing unit (GPU). Later on in this year, it is anticipated that these third-party variations would be released to the market.
In terms of pricing, the Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB variant is priced at $300, while the 16GB model is priced at $350. As a point of reference, the pricing of Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti is $380 for the 8GB variant and $430 for the 16GB model. It is important to note that the regular RTX 5060 with 8GB RAM is priced at the same as AMD’s $300, which sets the scenario for heated rivalry.
