Now You Can Make Video and Voice Calls on WhatsApp Web

WhatsApp’s internet client may soon add built-in audio and video calling services, according to an article from WABetaInfo. Until recently, customers had to depend on the mobile app or the desktop software for calls, placing the online version behind in functionality. However, new discoveries imply a shift is on the way.

WABetaInfo found new call buttons emerging on the web client, hinting that customers might soon make calls straight from a browser. In a previous update, WhatsApp provided a call dropdown menu for individual and group conversations for beta testers, making it simpler to initiate calls. Based on the current state of affairs, it seems like WhatsApp is moving forward by incorporating these functionalities onto its online platform.

The story included an image that displayed a WhatsApp group conversation in a web browser. The screenshot showed that the well-known camera and phone symbols now appear as top icons. These icons had been absent from the online version of WhatsApp, although they have been present on the mobile app for quite some time.

Once WhatsApp has officially rolled out this capability, users will be able to conduct audio and video conversations without having to download any extra applications. This change has the potential to make WhatsApp far more adaptable, which would be comparable to systems such as Microsoft Teams, which currently offer calls and meetings that are conducted directly via web browsers such as Google Chrome and Safari.

The feature looks to be in active testing, which suggests that online calling on WhatsApp might come soon rather than later. Although there is no official release date yet, the functionality appears to be in the process of being developed.
