Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon 8s Gen 4

Qualcomm released the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, their newest premium smartphone processor. The SM8735 chip uses TSMC’s 4nm N4P technology. Unlike the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, it uses Kryo instead of Oryon cores.

CPU, GPU
One Cortex-X4 core at 3.2GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores at 3.0GHz, two at 2.8GHz, and two at 2.0GHz power the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Qualcomm says the processor outperforms the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 by 31% while consuming 39% less power.

The Adreno 825 GPU improves graphics performance by 49%. It supports on-device ray tracing and Snapdragon Elite Gaming features such Game Super Resolution 2.0 and Adreno Image Motion Engine 2.0.

AI/Image Connectivity
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Hexagon NPU boosts AI performance by 44%. For photography, the chipset has an 18-bit triple ISP that can handle 320MP cameras and 60fps 4K HDR video.

The Snapdragon X75 modem in the chipset supports sub-6GHz frequencies and can download 5G data at 4.2Gbps. It also has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and Qualcomm’s XPAN technology, which wirelessly transmits music. USB 3.1 Gen 2, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage are supported by Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.

Availability
Xiaomi, Oppo, and Meizu will use the processor in more smartphones once the iQOO Z10 Turbo debuts this month.
