The official launch date of Starlink in Pakistan has been disclosed.
Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet service provider, is being licensed in stages by the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission. The regulator has granted Starlink a NOC.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) sources informed ProPakistani that Starlink would be licensed next. The PTA estimates that Starlink will launch in Pakistan in six months. The startup plans to give Pakistani people with direct internet access using LEO satellites.
The PTA will charge the corporation $640,000 for license. PTA authorities said Starlink has filed its licensing application and technical and financial preparations.
The PTA is reviewing all Starlink license issues internally. The PTA chairman and three members will decide after the evaluation. The license should be given in a few weeks, sources said.
Starlink will allow Pakistani online reservations after receiving the license. Additionally, the firm may deploy its equipment nationwide. Starlink will back its operations with two to three Pakistani ground stations.
Starlink’s deployment might provide internet to rural locations without cable or mobile towers. Pricing should be lower in Pakistan than in the US and other wealthy nations.
