The US denies reports of limitations on visas on Pakistan and others.
The US State Department denies claims that the administration is creating a travel ban list to limit visas for Pakistan and Afghanistan.
In a press conference, State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce stressed that there is no such list and that visa policy discussions are not official decisions.
She said the Trump administration is reviewing visa procedures for security under a January 20 executive order.
The tighter York Times and Reuters reported that Afghanistan might lose its visas and Pakistan and other countries could face tighter restrictions. Bruce said, “There is no list that exists here that is being acted on.”
Afghan refugees seeking resettlement are concerned about US visa policy ambiguity. Many worry that legislative changes may delay or prevent migration.
Bruce said the US will rehouse Afghans who supported its mission over the 20-year conflict notwithstanding the assessment.
