Huawei Pura X Does Foldable Design Differently

Huawei released the Pura X in China, combining book-style and clamshell foldable smartphone designs. This innovative method intends to create a foldable gadget that is short yet broad when unfurled, delivering a novel user experience. Key Huawei Pura X features are below.

Display and Design
Due to its hybrid design, the Pura X is 143.2 mm tall and 91.7 mm wide when open and 91.7 mm by 74.3 mm when folded. The 6.3-inch LTPO OLED primary display has a 16:10 aspect ratio, 120 Hz refresh rate, and 2,500 nits of peak brightness.

A triple-camera module and 3.5-inch square panel are on the exterior cover. Note that Huawei placed the earpiece near the LED flash on the cover side so the phone may be used for calls when folded.

Internals, Software
Huawei did not announce the phone’s processor at launch, however Gsmarena reported it is the Mate 70 series’ Kirin 9020 SoC. In November 2024, HiSilicon released their self-developed processor.

Huawei’s HarmonyOS 5.0 runs on the phone. Huawei emphasizes sophisticated heat management using graphite-based parts with a 2,000 W/m·K thermal conductivity rating. Only Chinese satellites can connect to certain memory configurations.

Cameras
Three cameras flank the rear cover. The main camera is a 50 MP wide-angle (f/1.6, RYYB sensor, OIS) with a 40 MP ultrawide lens and an 8 MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS. A Mate 70 Pro-style spectrum sensor is also included.

Huawei phones include a 10 MP front-facing camera in a punch hole on the main display for video calls, but you can only use it for selfies.

Batteries and Prices
Two 4,720 mAh batteries offer 66W wired and 40W wireless charging in the Pura X. The 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage variant costs $1,035. The top model costs $1,380 and has 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage. Black, White, and Silver are the regular hues, while Pattern Green and Pattern Red are Collector’s Edition finishes.

China sales begin March 21, with no worldwide release intentions.
