Altman was impressed by the model’s metafictional flair. Altman said this is the first time AI-generated writing has pleased him, albeit the model’s release specifications and timetable are unknown. The development may affect professional fiction writers.
OpenAI has focused on AI applications in structured disciplines like mathematics and computer code, not creative writing. However, the corporation is now interested in fiction. OpenAI may feel their latest AI models can write appealing language better.
AI has not been known to write high-quality essays in the past. Thus, this new breakthrough may alter AI capabilities.
Meanwhile, ChatGPT and other generative AI technologies fail to correctly reference news. A recent research by The Tow Center for Digital Journalism found that this is a general generating tool issue, not simply ChatGPT.
